Listening to:Genesis: Visions of Angels, and Dan Fogelberg: Part of the Plan
Reading:Diamond Age, last bit
Weather:a balmy 55, rainy
W pledges $350 million to tsunami victim relief. Gee, that's what we spend every, oh, 3 days in Iraq. Reeking havoc, killing people, damaging the environment. Kinda like tsunami, only it doesn't end until we stop it.

Larry claims his bulb flowers are trying to peek their heads up from the ground already. Just after xmas he was looking out my kitchen window at my lilac, which is budding, and said "maybe winter is over." I said "shit, it never came." Enjoy the temps, we might just see feet of snow yet! It's only the first week of January.

An old friend who I thought fell off the planet emailed me today. Became a jesus freak. Dontcha hate when that happens? Actually, I don't much mind it except when they can't have a conversation without copious amounts of jesusspeak. Have mercy! Especially when they are of the bible-quoting variety. At least the Catholics groove on Mary and the mystery and some pagan-parallel stuff like that (but who ever converts to Catholicism? I think they're strictly a born-into-it kinda thing, like the shakers or something). The brand new full-tilt-boogie christians are so hard to take. At least for us infidels. If they could only remember how they felt when confronted or affronted with the jesusspeak back when they were heathens. Oy.

By the way, intelligence is overrated, isn't it? That's exactly what I was thinking as I was hopelessly plugged in to the Surreal Life marathon yesterday. Holy shit, that show cracks me up. I can't turn it off. This season had FlavorFlav and Brigitte Nielson, inter alia. Flav looks like he's about 70 years old. He slays me. FlavorFLAV! He's all ebony and ivory with Gitte the amazon Dane. I'm going to be him for Halloween.

Finally!!! I'm listening to radioio70's, as usual, and every bloody time I type Diamond Age for my "reading" entry here (which has been oh so MANY), my little brain sings a line or two from Diamond Dogs by David Bowie. Shiver me timbers, it's playing RIGHT NOW on radioio!! As I type. Synchronicity. Which, BTW, liv was bopping wildly to in the car on the way to school today. She loves the Police. Good kid.
