I sense a disturbance in the force
Listening to:Daily Source Code
Reading:grant proposals
Weather:80, sunny
Big time, and I'm sure you do, too. The weather broke into beautiful sunshine, markedly lower humidity, seasonable temps, but there is such a heaviness everywhere. The tragic post-Katrina circumstances are not only growing worse, but the detailed human reality is starting to trickle in. And it's horrifying. We all have our circles, and every single person's got the harsh ugliness of Katrina seeping into every circle.

For all you lawyer-bashers, skip this paragraph. A third of the lawyers in Louisiana have lost it all, their files, their computers, their offices, their livelihoods, some their clients, and some their families. There are people in jail on pre-trial release (meaning they haven't even been convicted of anything, innocent in the eyes of the law so far) and their case files, evidence, records, are completely gone, wiped out eternally. The break down of law is giving rise to violence and exploitation, Natl' Guard troops are being deployed as we speak to "re-establish order."

It's 6:17pm, just 3 weeks from the equinox, sun goes down now much earlier than it did a month ago, and there are people sitting on their rooftops, as they have for 3 days, no water to drink, no food, alone with thoughts of all they've lost, and it's about to get dark. That has to just suck.

Kali is kicking some ass.

Forgot to say "rabbit."
