if ya liked Amos Lee, dig Iron and Wine
Listening to:Iron and Wine
Reading:Oprah mag
Weather:freakin cold and clear, 13
I watched In Good Company, a hollywood movie I devo'd starring Dennis Quaid and Topher Grace and Scarlett Johansson. Not a bad flick for hollywood. And Dennis Quaid is a hottie. And I love Scarlett, who was in the absolutely fantastic film Lost in Translation, as well as the wonderful unknown Buscemi film Ghost World. But one of the things that kept me watching this film was the soundtrack. Several familiar good tunes (Reelin in the Years by my number two favorite band Steely Dan, and Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel, now you're singing in your head, ain't ya?), that's always nice. But there was some fresh stuff that really matched my latest favorite flavor.

That soft, understated melodious vocal. That fuckin did it. It was Iron and Wine. Definitely has that mellow furry slow burn like Amos Lee, and perhaps Nick Drake, and sometimes in Joan Osborne and some others. It's like a whisper accompanied by a hum. Iron and Wine, I find via google, is one dude with a mighty beard, looks like he could be one of my Preston County neighbors. Check out his myspace page and listen to Naked As We Came. Luscious, no? I haven't bought any of his albums yet, so I can't hand out the cat money back guarantee [she said in donnyspeak], but I'm thinking you probably can't go wrong with this one.
