signs of springI grumble every year about turning the clocks forward, so just insert last year's rant a few weeks early and let's be done with it. It's not even spring yet, so much for "spring forward."
Listening to: birdies singing Reading: sci fi shorts Weather: 25, clear and sunny I can't remember if I mentioned it here, but on my way home from Joyce's funeral in Wheeling I saw a bluebird. That was a couple weeks ago, and I didn't see it here in my yard, but not too far away in western PA on route 221 in Greene County. It was electric blue, it flew by us so quickly I didn't get to determine if it was an indigo bunting or an eastern bluebird. Either way, ahooga, a sign of spring. Larry said he saw a robin in his yard early this week, and he saw coltsfoot yesterday. I'm saying spring is about to sprung, and not a minute too soon.
My mom and dad are coming in today for the day. We're going to eat at the Haymond Community Center, a bit of a monthly ritual for Livi and Larry (and now Brandin) and I. My mom's not much of a meat and potatoes type, but homemade food with all the old folks at the old schoolhouse is right up my alley. I'm hoping for some strawberry rhubarb pie, too. Then we're off to the movies, I think we're going to catch Bridge to Terabithia. Hopefully it won't have any dudes smashing other dude's heads bloody, like in the last fastasy movie we saw, Pan's Labyrinth. It was a cool movie, but I'm just not a fan of graphic violence. Just put it off screen, show the splatter and hear the thud, if you must. I don't have any problem with the rest of you watching that stuff, but as long as I control the window of my own brain I just as soon keep that kinda thing out. I'm not fanatical about it, it's just that there are plenty of other images to choose from to put into my head, so I just don't need to add those in there.
Oy, I could use a nap already. But the sunshine won't let me sleep today.
