looking back at people from my past
Listening to:tv
Reading:thisnthat

Do you ever just randomly google names of people you've lost track of? I tend to do it more this time of year, as I'm kinda cataloging my peeps for gifts and cookies and whatnot.

It's usually mostly groovy, seeing some weird little disconnected bits of personal and professional stuff about folks I used to know. Some people are amazingly hidden, how do that manage that? Some people have gone in surprising directions. And a few times I've found that a friend has died.

It's such a weird connected world. way different from the old days when I actually went to the public library and looked in phonebooks from far away to try to find a long lost friend. Wonder what livi will do when she's 42 and wondering about old acquaintances?

Just yesterday I wondered about someone from my past. I didn't know him well at all, but we worked in a five-person advertising campaign project in our last semester of college (it resulted in Pittsburgh Brewing Company naming its next beer after our group's idea, remember that?). At the time, my classmate told me he was headed to med school, so I just happened to wonder if he is now a doctor. I found him in Savannah, Georgia -- he's an advertising professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I was like, wow. I should write to him.
